After what happened at Augusta National during Woods’ first major title, it became clear that maybe the Golden Bear knew what he was talking about.
Woods turned in the most dominating performance ever in the Masters, finished at a record 18-under 270 for a mind-boggling 12-stroke victory over the answer to the trivia question of who came in second, Tom Kite. Woods, who finished 13-under on the par 5s for the week, had rounds of 70-66-65-69.
The first-ever Masters victory by a person of color — Woods’ father is African-American, while his mother is from Thailand — brought about several changes. Augusta National moved to toughen the course or “Tiger-proof” it. Also, race relations in the country came into question again when former Masters champion Fuzzy Zoeller hoped Woods wouldn't have \"fried chicken and collard greens or whatever it is they serve\" on the traditional Champions Dinner menu the following year. Zoeller later apologized.

4/8/01
Grand Slam or not, Woods claimed the greatest feat in modern golf with an exciting victory that gave him a sweep of the four majors in less than one year. Woods joined Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo as the only players to repeat at Augusta National by holding off a leaderboard filled with the greatest players in the game.
Woods closed with a final-round 71, which was good enough for his third green jacket — half the total as idol Jack Nicklaus — as third-round co-leader Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson failed to mount a challenge. Woods joined Nicklaus (1970-73) and Tom Watson (1980-83) as the only players ever to win a major four years in a row.
Changes before the tournament to make Augusta National tougher, including lengthening it by almost 300 yards, didn’t faze Woods, who had rounds of 70-69-66-71 for a 12-under 276 total.

4/10/05
Woods regained the No. 1 ranking and ended his slump in majors at 10 with a 15-foot birdie putt on the first sudden-death playoff hole with gritty Chirs DiMarco.
But the clutch putt to capture his fourth green jacket during a rainy week at Augusta will likely be overshadowed by two of the most unforgettable shots of Woods' career.
The first is one he'd like to forget. His long eagle putt on the 13th hole in the opening round rolled off the green and into a creek, leading to a bogey.
The other was an amazing birdie chip on the 16th hole in the final round. Woods skipped his shot up the slope and watched it crawl 25 feet down to the cup, where it paused for 2 full seconds before dropping.
“I would rank that as one of the best ones I’ve ever hit,” said Woods, who took a 2-shot lead at that point. “It turned things around. It was pretty huge.”
Woods, who rallied from a 4-shot deficit in the middle of the third round Sunday morning, bogeyed the final two holes to allow DiMarco to force the playoff.
After completing rounds of 74-66-65-71 to finish at 12-under 276, a tearful Woods dedicated the win to his father, who was too ill to leave his hotel room.
Woods emerged with his ninth major, tied with Ben Hogan and Gary Player, halfway to Jack Nicklaus' record.
