But remember, there were skeptics who thought the experiment might not pan out, that it would be impossible to split one basketball among three superstars. Rivers has managed to keep the thrilling threesome working in harmony while producing the best record in the NBA. Some of the credit should go to Garnett, Allen and Paul Pierce themselves, because obviously they’re at points in their careers where they’ll more willing to sacrifice individual glory for team accomplishments. Yet there was lots of pressure to win when Garnett and Allen came on board, and Rivers has succeeded in living up to the expectations, at least at the halfway point.

Make plans for a title if: The Celtics have an excellent shot at coming out of the Eastern Conference. As a result, he came into 2007-08 on a cushion of good will. Mitchell is doing a commendable job so far in 2007-08 as well, and the Raptors are in the hunt in the East. But this club is a player or two away from challenging teams like Detroit, Boston and Cleveland for supremacy. They could use a veteran rebounder and another reliable scorer.
