When Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals started, many doubted if Michael Jordan would play because he was extremely sick. Bitten hard by the flu bug, and with the series tied 2-2, Jordan fought off an experienced Jazz team (led by John Stockton and Karl Malone) and dehydration.

Despite barely being able to walk during breaks, Jordan scored 38 points and grabbed seven rebounds and allowed the Chicago Bulls to win the game and go up 3-2.

With a chance to win another championship for the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan proved once again that he is Mr. Clutch during Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.

With only seconds left on the clock, Jordan crossed-over Utah Jazz forward Bryon Russell and buried a 20-footer to hit the game winner.

Chicago won the game 87-86 and also their sixth championship in 8 years.

In the 1980 NBA Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers, Magic Johnson filled some very big shoes in Game 6. After Kareem Abdul-Jabbar suffered an ankle injury in Game 5, Johnson decided to fill in for Jabbar and play center.

Johnson started the game by jumping for the opening tip and would eventually play EVERY position on the floor during the game.

Johnson finished with 42 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists and pulled off the upset by defeating the 76ers 123-107 to win the title.

In Game 4 of the 1987 NBA Finals, the Lakers found themselves down 106-105 with only a few seconds left in the game at Boston.

After receiving the inbound pass near the sideline, Magic Johnson did not settle for a jumper because Celtics forward Kevin McHale was in his way. Johnson then decided to drive to the basket and shoot a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar-like hook shot that was all net.

The shot gave L.A. a 107-106 win and allowed them to tie the series 2-2 and eventually win the series 4-2.

During the 1986 NBA Finals vs. the Houston Rockets, Larry Bird showed why he was the best player in the NBA at that time.

In Game 6, he led the Boston Celtics to their 16th NBA title by having a triple-double performance. Bird had 29 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists and took home the Finals MVP trophy.

During that season Boston had only one home loss (50-1 at home).

Coming into the 1985 NBA Finals, the Lakers organization had faced off against the Boston Celtics eight times in the Finals, but was unable to win one title.

Feeling the pressure of the \"curse,\" Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored 29 points in Game 6 allowing the Lakers to win the game 111-100 and also gave the Lakers their first NBA title vs. the Celtics.

Jabbar became the oldest Finals MVP in NBA history (38). The Lakers also gave Boston its first taste of Finals elimination on the floor of the Boston Garden.

When people think of Isiah Thomas, many think of him as the former troubled coach of the New York Knicks. But before he was a mediocre coach, Thomas was one of the best players ever.

In Game 6 of the 1988 NBA Finals, Thomas played his heart out on a severely sprained ankle. Barely able to put weight on his ankle, Thomas scored 25 points in the third quarter (a Finals record for points in a quarter).

Heading into the 2001 NBA Finals, the Lakers had won 19 straight games and their opponent, the Philadelphia 76ers, had just finished their second consecutive seven-game series three days before Game 1.

Led by league MVP, Allen Iverson, the Sixers defeated the \"unbeatable\" Lakers in OT. Iverson scored 48 points and put one of the greatest moves ever in Finals history on Lakers guard Tyronn Lue.

After using a crossover move on Lue in front of the Lakers bench, Iverson shot a three-pointer and proceeded to emphatically step over a falling Lue.

In Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, many doubted if New York Knicks great Willis Reed would play.

Injured in Game 5, Reed missed Game 6 and his opponent Wilt Chamberlain had 45 points and 27 rebounds.

For Game 7 he took an injection to ease the pain in his leg and limped out of the tunnel moments before the tip-off.

Despite being badly injured, Reed scored the first two baskets of the game for the Knicks. Those would be the only points he would score for the game, but his presence was enough to allow the Knicks to win the game 113-99.
