I've been in L.A. and so far removed from it. I'll deal with that later. I'm going to head back (to Florida) today for the first time in three months. ... We'll worry about football in the near future.&#148; Looks like a failure to communicate between the soon-to-be-34-but-still-very-good Taylor and the new Dolphins regime headed by Sparano and overlord Bill Parcells. One, he&#146;s going to try and \"high road\" his situation. Two, he&#146;s going to protect himself from having the Bears go after already-paid bonus money that Chicago could try and recoup if Urlacher holds out.";

Set to make a base of $3.25 million this year and having three years remaining on his deal, Peters is skipping Bills&#146; OTAs and a holdout could loom. Peters came into the league an undrafted rookie and got a pay bump in 2006 but &#150; for a player who made his first Pro Bowl in 2007 &#150; that deal already looks obsolete with plenty of time left on it.";

Again, the market&#146;s shifted since Birk (a six-time Pro Bowler) signed his deal seven years ago. This offseason, Jeff Faine signed a six-year, $34.6 million deal with $15 million guaranteed in Tampa. But Birk&#146;s situation isn&#146;t as (seemingly) bleak as others. Take Peters, for instance. He&#146;s got three more years at below-market wages. Birk has one if the Vikings don&#146;t get something done.";

Anthony Spencer, the heir apparent to the 33-year-old Ellis, started getting more time in practice this week. According to reports out of Dallas, Ellis doesn&#146;t trust the Cowboys contention that they&#146;re trying to preserve his body in the offseason. The Dallas Morning News reports that Ellis has a bonus clause in his contract (renegotiated last year) that kicks in only if he appears at 85 percent of the team&#146;s offseason workouts and attends mini-camps and training camps. ";

Smith had a classic response to Osgood&#146;s wishes. \"I'm sure after his contract expires his agent will do everything possible to make his client happy by finding a team that wants Kassim as a wide receiver first, special teams (player) second. He will not be traded, and we fully expect him to honor his contract. Kassim has made a career and business decision and I respect that.\"<p><br>";
