But you'll be snorting in anger the moment you want to pause a game for a quick trip to the bathroom. Unlike most systems, the pause button is on the console itself. So you'll probably ding up your shins trying to maneuver around the coffee table to reach the button.

What's more, the buttons on the controller feel squishy and ungainly — not nearly as responsive as rival NES’ buttons. No. It's clunky and the numeric keypad looks like something E.T. could use to phone home. To make matters worse, the controller was bottom heavy. Since it was designed to be held from the top, the dumb thing felt like it could slip from your hands at any moment.

The Jaguar controller also featured only three action buttons, even though five to six were standard at the time. The real atrocity of the Atari 5200 was that the joystick didn't center itself when released — you had to do it manually, causing your game character to move in undesired directions. Unfortunately, it didn't work. At all.

Using both \"flex sensors\" and gadgetry placed atop a TV set, this thing was so erratic, it was rare to make it past the first screen of a game.
