'Fatal Frame 2'
If you weren’t afraid of ghosts before, you will be after playing Tecmo’s “Fatal Frame 2.”
The game revolves around twin sisters lost in a mysterious village that is filled with ghouls out to get them. Their only defense is an enchanted camera that seals souls inside the film when you snap a picture. Unfortunately, this camera isn’t some high-powered type with a telephoto lens. No, you’ll need to get up close and personal with these poltergeists if you want to survive.

Mention the word “Nintendo” and most people immediately think of fun, kid-friendly games like “Super Mario Bros.” and the “Zelda” series. But did you know that Nintendo also made one of the creepiest games of all time?
“Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem” has a knack for messing with your head. For instance, the “normal” sounds of the game slowly morph into the sounds of people screaming. As you play, the screen will suddenly turn black, making you think the console has malfunctioned and shut down. Also, you’ll start to see things that aren’t really there, like monsters that disappear as soon as you turn to attack them.
And then there’s the lady in the tub. We dare you not to jump when you “find” her.";

This first-person shooter has a high-tension atmosphere that’s intensified by its use of light and its spine-chilling soundtrack. “F.E.A.R” will have you on the edge of your seat, wondering what’s coming next.
Plus, this game features Alma, a creepy little girl who can do some very bad things. Trust us, when you see her you’ll want to run – fast.";

Sega’s “Condemned: Criminal Origins” has you playing as Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent hot on the trail of a serial killer. If that weren’t scary enough, you’ll also have to deal with the locals, who are all morphing into violent psychopaths.
Like “F.E.A.R.,” this game uses a distinct lack of light to build tension – and it works. When someone pops out of the shadows, you might just pop out of your seat. “Condemned” also uses sound to its advantage – really creepy and sickening stuff. That’ll add to the fright factor. ";

'Resident Evil'
If you have read any of our Top 5’s you know we’re fans of Capcom’s “Resident Evil” series. What’s not to love about these horror games filled with zombies and gore?
There are a lot of great scary parts in these games, but our favorite, the one that sums up the series in a single heartbeat, is in the original “Resident Evil” game. It doesn’t matter who you are, you will jump when those dogs come through the window and attack you. A classic moment of horror!
