datelineanchor_petstories[i-1].body = "Stone Phillips
Bucky is our clicky-toed, floppy-eared, winky-eyed, waggy-tailed yellow lab. We love him beyond words! One of the first things people notice about him, besides his warm and wonderful personality, is that he's missing part of his tail. People often ask, \"What happened?\" Well, Bucky wagged his tail so much as a youngster, banging it against walls and kitchen cabinets, that a chronic sore developed. Sadly, our efforts to help him heal proved unsuccessful. Our vet recommended that the tail be shortened a bit. And since Bucky was due in for his neutering operation, the doctor decided to perform both procedures at the same time. That was a tough day at the old animal hospital for Bucky boy! But the sore healed, never reopened and Bucky has wagged his tail to his heart's delight ever since! In our eyes, Bucky's abbreviated tail only makes him more adorable, the way imperfections in loved ones often do. Bucky loves to swim, go for long walks in the woods, twirl in circles and tear off across our lawn digging up grass with every high speed turn. He loves the doggy biscuits I give him while washing dishes after dinner. He knows lots of words and communicates extremely well. He tells us when it's time to get up, when the mailman (or a thunderstorm) is approaching and, astoundingly, where the Federal Reserve is going with interest rates even before Alan Greenspan. When Bucky delivers the news at our house, everyone listens. And that's more than can be said for the resident anchorman.
Stone Phillips is the principle anchor of “Dateline NBC” | Biography
";

datelineanchor_petstories[i-1].body = "Brian Williams
While I'm aware that millions of Americans somehow manage to live happy lives without a dog, I can't imagine it. What follows is the story of a beloved member of the Williams family: Twelve years ago, for my daughter's 5th birthday, my wife and I drove to the North Shore Animal League on Long Island, New York. Back when I worked in local news in New York, they had come to our TV station with some puppies to participate in a segment on pet adoption. They are justifiably proud of having never destroyed an animal, and so when it was time to introduce a puppy to our household, the decision to go to North Shore was not tough. We picked out a white ball of fur with two eyes. We were told that this puppy (in the puppy adoption world you quickly learn two euphemisms: \"lab mix\" and \"terrier mix\") had some lab in her, some samoyed. All we knew was she was awfully cute. We were further told that she was a rescue dog: North Shore regularly sends a van to bring puppies back from places like South Carolina and Tennessee, places where animals may grow up abused, and where the population isn't large enough to guarantee their adoption. Two hours later, my daughter opened the cardboard box in our living room and promptly named the little thing staring up at her, Lucy. Today, I can't imagine what our life as a family would be like without Lucy. For the love she shows us each day, for her intelligence and for what she means to our family, I count my blessings every day.
Brian Williams is the anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News”
| Biography

";

Scoop is, well, like a dog -- though he only enjoys a walk if the temperature is between 38 and 68 degrees, never \"runs\" on the beach, barks only when he \"hears dead people... usually at 3 in the morning,\" and has never in his 13 years agitated for one of us to take him outside. The dog is almost 11 and has never spent a night in a kennel. When he was a pup, I took him through the usual training regimen to which I’ve subjected every other dog I’ve owned, basically teaching him to do five things: sit, stay, speak, come here, heel. There was a morning when he did all five things. He was around three months old, and since then has never done any of ‘em again. Not once! He's either dumb as a post or stubborn as cement, or, as my son insists, is merely the kind of dog I would be. I have cleaned up the backyard, various litter boxes, and now a new birdcage more times than I can count. I have watched my dog tromp through huge mud puddles and then go galloping through my home. And my cats proudly deposit dead moles on the doorstep. They need medical care at the most inconvenient times. It is impossible to find good, reasonably priced boarding for them while you’re away. And the bills for dry food, wet food, bones, catnip and millet are just ridiculous. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. As my husband and I watch TV, Gabriel (our goldendoodle) lies like a sausage between us, Luke and Chester (our cats) have molded themselves to my chest, and Wuggles (our budgie – a parakeet) chirps happily in the background. And I know that for all my haranguing about what having them is costing me, what they give BACK is priceless. Especially for my two sons, who have learned so much about the responsibility of caring for something other than themselves. And now if you’ll excuse me, I have more clean up to do.
Edie Magnus is a correspondent for “Dateline NBC” | Biography";

For the most part, Buoy is a very mellow cat except for a few oddities. His favorite position? Lying flat on his back with his hips splayed open. His favorite pro-wrestler? Jimmy \"Superfly\" Snuka. Buoy likes to get a running start toward our bed, leap into the air and land on our stomach - all 15 pounds of him. His favorite hiding place? In the closet on my clothes. Enter Bobo, a feisty 6-year-old orange tabby with a taste for playing fetch! Our daily routine features me tossing a stuffed toy mouse or cat or bird across the room so Bobo can pounce on it, chomp down on it, and bring it back to me for another toss. If he thinks I'm ignoring him, he'll bring a toy to me and then gaze up at me with his big hazel eyes. I always cave in. Sometimes, to make sure I don't forget to start our day on the right foot, Bobo will jump on the bed, toy \"in mouth,\" ready for action! With Bobo around, I don't really need an alarm clock.
