Butt augmentations experienced the biggest bump in popularity, more than doubling from 2,556 procedures in 2006 to 5,325 in 2007, according to ASAPS. Meanwhile, cheek implants (the other kind of cheeks) dropped by half since 2006, and by 78 percent since 1997.
A longer view is even more surprising. Upper arm lifts (pictured above) increased an astounding 769 percent between 1997 and 2007, the biggest climb of all surgical procedures.
In nonsurgical procedures, Botox gained the most during the decade, increasing 4,159 percent, according to ASAPS.

cosmetic_surgery_07numbers[i-1].body = "The ASAPS 2007 survey found that 56 percent of women and 57 percent of men approved of cosmetic surgery; 31 percent of women and 20 percent of men said they’d even consider getting work done.Plus, 78 percent of women said that if they had cosmetic surgery in the future, they would not be embarrassed if their acquaintances knew about it; 79 percent of men said the same.
But opinions on cosmetic surgery varied by age. While 34 percent of those 25-44 said they would consider cosmetic procedures, only 10 percent of Americans age 65 or older said they would think about it.
