Newborn baby Macie McCartney is a modern medical miracle. While she was still in utero, doctors discovered that she had developed a grapefruit-size, noncancerous tumor on her tailbone. Her distressed parents, Texas couple Keri and Chad McCartney, learned that surgery was necessary to save their baby’s life.

The couple’s fetal surgeon at Texas Children's Hospital, Dr. Darrell Cass, says that the condition is rare, occurring in about one in 40,000 births.
