Only 1 in 7 gals would accept a date purely for a free meal.

Guys want a modern gal
Almost two-thirds want a gal who splits the tab.
Nearly half would break up with a freeloading lady.

Gals torn over tab sharing
Fifty-seven percent of gals claim they always offer to chip in, even on the first date.
But 44 percent are bothered when a guy expects her to help pay.

One-third of gals say pitching in takes off the pressure to put out.
But only 16 percent of guys feel entitled when they pay.

Husbands say size (of paycheck) doesn’t matter
Only 12 percent of men said it would bother them if their wives earned more.

But wives aren’t so sure
Thirty percent of women who earn more said they thought their husbands were resentful.
“I think it is hard on my husband and on me that I'm the primary breadwinner in our home. ... I think it's hard for both of us to accept that we're in non-traditional roles.”

Housework often still wives’ work
Forty-two percent of women say they do more than their share of housework -- and 29 percent of husbands agree.
“I end up doing almost everything: paying bills, making financial decisions, trying to balance housework, money, the kids' activities, etc. My husband enjoys a fairly peaceful existence where the only time he gets involved is if something physical needs done.”

Salary shouldn’t equal power
Nine out of 10 women, and eight out of 10 men, don’t think the spouse who makes more money should have more say in financial decisions.

Sixteen percent of women and 10 percent of men said if they made more money, they would have more power in the relationship.
“I rarely express this to my husband, but I feel controlled and overwhelmed by not having any income of my own. This means I have no discretionary funds to spend as I see fit. When he is so controlling with 'his' money, it somehow makes me want to spend more.”

Men prefer a working woman
One-quarter of men surveyed said that their wives aren’t working, but 40 percent of those men wish they did. Of the approximately 75 percent of men whose wives did work, only 5 percent wished she they were at home.
