That being said, I’ll be one of the first in line to check out the latest adventures of Spidey. In the first two movies, director Sam Raimi delivered films that weren’t only great to look at but were cerebral as well, getting deep into Tobey Maguire’s noggin and figuring out what made him tick. The villains have been fine — loved Alfred Molina’s multi-arm attack last time — but it’s the relationship between Maguire and Kirsten Dunst that raises the “Spider-Man” franchise above typical comic-turned-movie fare.";

He’s working with his favorite actors again from those glorious “Freaks & Geeks” days — Seth Rogan, Jason Segel plus Paul Rudd — and this time Rogan, who after this one will be firmly entrenched as a breakthrough comedy star, impregnates Katherine Heigl (“Grey’s Anatomy”) following a one-night stand. Hilarity, naturally, ensues. Each summer there’s one mid-size comedy that breaks out into a huge box-office hit. This is that movie.";

And it looks to be a doozy. You won’t find a more potent, testosterone-heavy combo than Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, all working under the tutelage of violence-lover Ridley Scott, who directed Crowe to an Oscar in “Gladiator.” Washington plays a 1970s heroin kingpin in Harlem who smuggles in drugs in the coffins of dead Vietnam soldiers, while Crowe is the cop trying to bust him.";

Daniel-Day Lewis, an actor’s actor, stars as a Texas oil prospector who gets caught up in greed, lies and everything that’ll surely get his hands dirty. Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman in a serious-minded drama directed by Mike Nichols. Geez, can they just inscribe their names on the Oscar now? Story is based on a Texas congressman’s secret dealings with Afghanistan during that country’s war with the Soviets. No matter the dense subject matter, there will be as much anticipation for this one by both high-minded cineastes and casual moviegoers who only head to the theater a couple of times a year. Nichols is a five-time Oscar nominee (and winner for “The Graduate”), Hanks has two statues over his fireplace and Hoffman and Roberts have one each. What’s not to like?";
